Cat

Behold the cat:
it insinuates rather than glides its way
from beneath a shadow,
every inch intent on its goal.

Militia shoulders strut across the floor:
slingposts for a body attractive,
rather than attracted to the ground.

Snake eyes:
a cat will never blink
except to emphasise its disapproval.
Disapproves always:
the world is beneath its disdain.
