City Beat

These feet tread
streets behind them,
these eyes
pinpoint lamps.

These ears draw a
bitter hum from
the strings of traffic,
cast the wailing
sirens into night.

These thoughts
shape concrete landscapes,
plant city seeds and
call down the rain
for growth.
